James Sellers

James Sellers grew up in Abbeville, Louisiana with his parents and eight sisters. He attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for three years during which he was a member of the Ragin Cajun football team. Multiple injuries and a back surgery ultimately led to his decision to become a physical therapist. After his graduation from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 1994, James returned to Lafayette to work in out-patient physical therapy clinics.

James is also certified in the McKenzie Method of Mechanic Diagnosis and Therapy, or MDT. This certification, an internationally acclaimed method for assessing and treating spinal and extremity pain, enhances James’ ability to treat patients with diagnoses regarding the back and neck. In addition, James regularly treats a variety of conditions, including, but not limited to: orthopedic and sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, degenerative diseases, and generalized muscle weakness. Above all, James values all person relationships and strives to create a strong bond with every patient. His goal is that patients never feel like a number, but more like family.

Along with his work family, he has a model family at home with his wife and five children. His wife Lisa, also a physical therapist, maintains her license while home-schooling their children and his eldest daughter is currently in an undergraduate program with aspirations of becoming a physical therapist. James and Lisa’s strong bond, faith, and determination have made Summit Physical Therapy what it is today.
